Contract system for Indian women team proposed

Recommendations made to add more domestic, international women tournaments

Contract system proposed for the Indian Women Team, two tournaments to be added in the domestic season of Indian women cricketers

The Women’s Cricket Committee of the BCCI met in Kolkata today and made the following recommendations to the Working Committee:

· On the lines of Men’s cricket, a Contract system for international Women cricketers was proposed. It was also proposed to have more international fixtures for the Indian women’s cricket team.


· The Committee recommended adding two more tournaments to give more exposure and opportunities to women cricketers at the domestic level. The Committee proposed to start an under-16 state level tournament within the zones. It also proposed to start an under-23 tournament.


· The present formats of the women’s under-19 tournament and the senior women’s tournament will remain unchanged.

The Tour Programme and Fixtures Committee of the BCCI met in Kolkata earlier today to finalise the venues for South Africa and Sri Lanka's tours of India in 2015-16.

South Africa will play 4 Test matches, 5 One-Day Internationals and 3 T20 Internationals in the months of October and November 2015.

Sri Lanka will play 3 T20 Internationals in February 2016.

The venues confirmed are as follows:
