Life came full circle for Steven Finn at the Gabba on Tuesday. It was the very ground from where he was sent back a year ago after being declared ‘not selectable’. But the England fast bowler exorcised the ghosts of the Gabba by bagging his career best ODI figures of 5 for 33 against India and bowling England to a nine-wicket win.
After the game, Finn said he doesn’t want to look back at the horror days and would rather prefer moving forward. "That corner's been turned," said Finn. "All that stuff's in the past now.
"There are a few bad memories knocking around in the places we're travelling to but this will help relax me. I'm happy with where I'm at.”
Finn’s exodus from the team a year back was prompted by issues with his bowling action among other things. The pacer is happy to put it all behind him now.
"Obviously a lot has happened in the last 12 months and it is pretty much a year to the day that I went home from that tour of Australia," Finn said.
"To take five wickets was obviously very pleasing after the work I've put in, but I don't want to look back now, just forward," said Finn.
