Match report: WI vs Ind (Women), 3rd ODI

St Kitts, Mar 5: West Indies beat India by three wickets to clinch the ODI series between the two teams 2-1.

Opting to bat first, Anjum Chopra’s Indian team posted 180 runs in the third ODI at Warner Park in Basseterre, St Kitts. Mamtha Kanojia (26) put up 22 runs for the first wicket with Sulakshana Naik before the latter departed for 13. Coming in at No. 3, the India skipper added 24 runs before being dismissed by Stafanie Taylor. The off-spinner then removed Kanojia and later claimed Amita Sharma and Diana David to finish with a four-wicket haul. Anisa Mohammed picked the key wicket of Mithali Raj (4). However a half-century by Harmanpreet Kaur (55) and an unbeaten 30 by Jhulan Goswami saw India reach a par total.

Chasing 181, WI lost three quick wickets after a 43-run opening stand and were struggling at 46 for the loss of three wickets. But Deandra Dottin smashed 63 to take the hosts to a victory with four balls to spare. WI skipper Merissa Aguilleira contributed a useful 26 in the run chase before being sent back by pacer Jhulan Goswami while Shemaine Campbelle added a useful 14*.

Gauhar Sultana and Archana Das picked two wickets apiece while Goswami, Amita Sharma and Ekta Bista claimed a wicket each.
