Kumar Sangakkaraā€™s 61 was his 87th score of 50 or more. He now moves to the second place among the batsmen with most 50-plus scores, ahead of Jacques Kallis (86). Now only Sachin Tendulkar ā€“with 96 such scores ā€“ is ahead of Sangakkara.

Angelo Mathews (92*) has now aggregated 3128 runs in 135 matches without scoring a hundred. His tally is the highest for a Sri Lankan and fifth highest overall without a hundred after Misbah-ul-Haq (4609), Wasim Akram (3717), Elton Chigumbura (3277) and Moin Khan (3266).

Mathews has now taken his run-tally in ODIs in 2014 to 838 ā€“ more than any other batsman. Sangakkara is second with 802 runs.

Playing his 21st ODI, Ambati Rayudu (121*) made his maiden ODI hundred. He became 35th Indian to score an ODI hundred.

Only three Indians have scored a maiden ODI hundred at an older age than Ambati Rayudu.The details:

India (275-4) registered their second highest successful chase in 15 ODIs at Ahmedabad. The best still remains 325-5 against West Indies in 2002.

Incidentally, India had won only one out of last six ODIs at Ahmedabad.

India have now won eight and lost only two of their last 10 completed ODIs against Sri Lanka.

Virat Kohli has now won 11 out of 14 ODIs in which he has captained India against Sri Lanka. His win-percentage is the third highest for a player captaining his side in 10 or more matches. The details:
