MEDIA RELEASE
Mumbai, March 2: The BCCI has undertaken a Talent Search for bowlers as a part of its development programme in the country. Only those who have not played in BCCI tournaments are eligible for the trials.
The first phase of this programme was undertaken in four states (as under) and the response has been excellent:
(a) Dharamsala – 18 Feb 2012 and 19 Feb 2012
(i) Total number of bowlers who participated - 650 (Approx).
(ii) Total bowlers selected – 30 (Spinners-15 and Fast Bowlers-15).
(b) Jammu – 22 Feb 2012 and 23 Feb 2012
(i) Total number of bowlers who participated - 605 (Approx).
(ii) Total bowlers selected – 18 (Spinners-7 and Fast Bowlers-11).
(c) Ranchi – 25 Feb 2012 and 26 Feb 2012
(i) Total number of bowlers who participated - 1550 (Approx).
(ii) Total bowlers selected – 9 (Spinners- 4 and Fast Bowlers-5).
(d) Raipur – 28 Feb 2012 and 29 Feb 2012
(i) Total number of bowlers who participated - 1750 (Approx).
(ii) Total bowlers selected – 6 (Spinners- 3 and Fast Bowlers- 3).
The trials were conducted by Mr. Sandeep Patil, Director, Cricket Operations, NCA, Mr. Karsan Ghavri, Head Coach, BCCI Academy, Mohali, and Mr. Yoginder Puri, Coach, BCCI
Academy, Mohali.
The next round of Open Trials will be conducted in April-May, after the final exam-period. The bowlers who will be selected after the two rounds of trials will undergo coaching at the various BCCI Academies.
