Prithvi Shaw stars as India ‘A’ beat New Zealand XI

Prithvi Shaw starred with the bat as India ‘A’ edged out New Zealand XI in a high-scoring encounter at the Bert Sutcliffe Oval in Lincoln on Sunday.

In the second tour match, after India ‘A’ elected to bat, Shaw hammered 150 to power the team to 372. The right-hander hit as many as 22 fours and 2 sixes during his 100-ball stay in the middle.

Vijay Shankar, meanwhile, scored a quickfire 58 off 41 balls while Mayank Agarwal and Krunal Pandya chipped in with 32 runs each.

New Zealand XI put up a solid fight in the chase, scoring 360, on the back of Jack Boyle’s 130, Finn Allen’s 87 and brisk 40s from Daryl Mitchell and Dane Cleaver. However, India ‘A’ managed to seal a 12-run win.

India ‘A’ will now square off against New Zealand ‘A’ in three one-day games and two multi-day matches.
