Abdul Rahman starred with the bat and ball while Abid Mohammadi scalped four wickets as Afghanistan Under-19 won the third Youth ODI against India Under-19 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium B ground in Lucknow on Tuesday. After winning the first two matches, this was India’s first loss in the series.
Once captain Farhan Zakhil won the toss and elected to bowl, Afghanistan Under-19 bowled out India Under-19 for 152 in 49 overs.
Afghanistan struck early as Abidullah Taniwal dismissed Arjun Azad for 12 in the eighth over. Arjun Murthy and Kumar Kushagra got out for zero as India lost three wickets in the space of five runs.
Kruthik Krishna and Divyaansh Saxena were dismissed for 9 and 24 respectively as India were reduced to 54/5 at the end of 22 overs.
Shubhang Hegde, who was leading the side, and Vikrant Bhadoriya added 73 runs together before the latter got out for 39 off Mohammadi’s bowling. Rahman then dismissed Hegde for 46 before India were all out for 152.
In the chase, Afghanistan lost their skipper early as Kartik Tyagi struck in the fifth over. However, Imran and Mohammad Ishaq put up a 54-run stand for the second wicket before Hegde dismissed Ishaq for 32.
Mohammadi was the next man to get out before Afghanistan lost their fourth wicket as Tyagi got Imran out for 34.
While Afghanistan were seven down with 24 runs to win, Rahman’s unbeaten 26 helped Afghanistan register their first win of the series.
