Ambati Rayudu retires from all forms of cricket

Mr. Ambati Rayudu has announced his retirement from all formats of the game. Having first made his first-class debut in the 2001-02 season for Hyderabad in a Ranji Trophy pre-quarterfinal match against Himachal Pradesh, Rayudu went on to play 55 ODIs and 6 T20Is for India.

ā€œI have come to the decision to step away from the sport and retire from all forms and levels of the game,ā€ Rayudu informed the Board. ā€œIt has been a wonderful journey of playing the sport and learning from every up and down it brought upon for the last 25 years at various different levels,ā€ he stated.Ā Ā

He thanked BCCI, the captains he has played under and various state associations that he represented during his long career. ā€œI’d like to take this opportunity to thank the BCCI and all the state associations that I have represented which include Hyderabad, Baroda, Andhra and Vidarbha. I also would like to thank the two IPL franchises Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings for their support.
