1st Jan, 1970

Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni average 60.07 while batting together in ODIs

Alex Hales was making his ODI debut for England. He became 236th player to represent England in ODIs.

Virat Kohli was dismissed for a duck in an ODI for the third time against England. He has not scored more than one duck against any other opponent.

Suresh Raina (100) scored his fourth ODI hundred – first outside the subcontinent.

Raina, on 2, completed his 1000 ODI runs against England. He became sixth batsman after Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh, MS Dhoni, Rahul Dravid and Virender Sehwag to reach this landmark.

Raina’s hundred was only the third ODI hundred by an Indian batsman against England in England. Indians have scored 9 hundreds against other sides in England though!

Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni average 60.07 while batting together in ODIs. This is the highest average for any pair in ODIs having batted together in at least 50 innings.

The Raina-Dhoni pair became the first pair to aggregate 1,000 runs against England in ODIs (in 16 innings). In doing so, the pair surpassed the previous record held by Australia’s Adam Gilchrist and Matthew Hayden, who had aggregated 989 in 22 innings.

India made 304 for six – the same score they had made against the same side at same venue three years ago!

India’s 304 for six was their 79th score of 300 or more in ODIs- most for any side. Australia are second with 77 such instances.

Ravindra Jadeja’s figures of 4 for 28 are the best by any bowler at Cardiff, beating New Zealand’s Kyle Mills’ 4 for 30 in 2013

It was only the third time in 17 matches at Cardiff that side batting first won a match.

The defeat was England’s first at Cardiff in 8 matches. They have four games here, while 3 matches ended without producing a result.

The win by 133 runs is India’s second biggest against England. The details:
