India A Women sweep one-day series 3-0

With a nine-wicket win the third game, the India A Women’s team swept the three-match one-day series against Bangladesh A Women 3-0 in Hubli. After the bowling unit bowled out the visitors for 116, Jemimah Rodrigues (56*) anchored the team to victory with Devika Vaidya (30*).

Earlier after Bangladesh elected to bat, Mansi Joshi left the visitors on 4/1 with the wicket of Shamima Sultana. 27 runs later Murshida Khatun and Lata Mondol were sent back by Kavita and Anuja Patil respectively leaving the side on 31 for three. Bangladesh’s woes continued as the Indian bowlers continued to strike at regular intervals.

Kavita followed up with the wicket of Fargana Hoque with the team on 38 while Vaidya trapped Nigar Sultana lbw leaving Bangladesh on 55 for five. Rumana Ahmed who toiled to hold one end up was then joined by Shaila Sharmin. The duo stitched a 48-run stand in an effort to revive the innings. However, the blossoming partnership was ended by the Indian captain leaving the team on 103 for six. P Bose the dealt a double blow. She claimed Rumana and bowled Jahanara Alam to leave the side on 107 for eight. A bit later Shivangi Raj claimed two wickets to wrap-up the innings for 116.

Chasing a sub-par score, MD Thirushkamini returned to the pavilion for 26 leaving India on 58 for one. Jemimah and Vaidya then helped overhaul the target with an unbroken 60-run stand.
