Pacers dominated the proceedings in Kolkara as the Tripura pace attack bowled Haryana out in the first two sessions while Haryana’s Harshal Patel dealt early blows to push Tripura on the back foot. In Lucknow, The Hyderabad pacers bundled out Andhra on the first day.
Amandeep Khare revived Chhattisgarh with a century even as Samiullah Beigh claimed four wickets. Sagun Kamat’s ton kept the Goa innings in the fray against Himachal while Kerala’s debutant AB Ashraf claimed three wickets to peg Services back.
Group C Round 9 – Day 1 Round-up:Tripura vs Haryana Kolkata: Haryana 1st inn 231/10 in 66.4 overs (C Bishnoi 52, M Sharma 39*, SS Majumder 3/53, MB Murasingh 3/53); Tripura 1st inn 70/4 in 20.4 overs (B Gosh 36, S Patel 26*, H Patel 2/8) Trail by 161 runs
Asked to bat, Haryana scored 231 runs in the first innings before being bowled out at the stroke of Tea. The Tripura pace attack comprising S Majumder, MB Murasingh and B Roy picked eight wickets amongst themselves while left-arm spinner Gurinder Singh took one to wrap up the innings. C Bishnoi was the only batsman to complete a half-century while captain Mohit Sharma was the second highest scorer for Haryana with an unbeaten 39-run knock.
Harshal Patel then dealt early blows to leave Tripura on 22 for two, while Joginder Sharma and R Tewatia picked a wicket to reduce the side to 70 for four at stumps. When play ended for the day, S Patel was batting on 26.
Hyderabad vs Andhra in Lucknow: Andhra 1st inn 190/10 in 59 overs (M Pranith 63, A Hebber 52, CV Milind 5/28, R Kiran 4/33); Hyd 1st inn 10/0. Trail by 180 runs
Hyderabad’s pace duo – CV Milind and Ravi Kiran - bowled Andhra out for 190 after S Badrinath opted to bowl in Lucknow. Left reeling on 80 for five, M Pranith and Ashwin Hebber stitched a 91-run partnership in an effort to revive the innings.
However, Milind castled Hebber to end the stand for the sixth wicket, while Ravi Kiran accounted for Pranith two runs later. In his following two overs, Milind claimed the remaining three wickets to wrap-up the innings and finished with a five-for.
Hyderabad openers – Tanmay Agarwal and Akshath Reddy - then saw the team to stumps at ten without loss.
Himachal vs Goa in Mumbai: Goa 1st inn 260/6 in 89 overs (S Kamat 104, D Misal 68*, B Sharma 2/37)
Goa were powered to 260 for six by centurion Sagun Kamat. After Sumairan Amonkar was sent back for 18 by AN Chauhan, the opener stitched a stand with Snehal Kauthankar to take the team to 117 until the No 3 was sent back by M Dagar. 95 runs later, Kamat was run out on 104 ending the flourishing third wicket stand with Darshan Misal.
While Goa lost three more wickets until stumps, Misal held up one end and was batting on 68 off 166 balls when play ended for the day.
Kerala vs Services in New Delhi: Services 1st inn 103/4 in 42 overs (A Gupta 52*, S Yadav 23*, AB Ashraf 3/35)
After a delayed start to the day’s play, Anshul Gupta anchored Services to 103 for four until stumps with an unbeaten 52. After Rohan Prem elected to field, debutant pacer, Athib Bin Asfaram claimed three early wickets to reduce Services to 22 for three. And 21 runs later, Basil Thami bowled Irfan Khan to leave the team tottering on 43 for four. Gupta then stitched a stand with S Yadav to stem the fall of wickets and the pair then seeing the team through to stumps.
Chhattisgarh vs Jammu & Kashmir in Gwalior: Chhattisgarh 217/6 in 60 overs (A Khare 106, A Singh 41*, S Beigh 4/56)
Samiullah Beigh left Chhattisgarh reeling on three for two by claiming both openers before they could open their accounts. However, young middle-order bat, Amandeep Khare stabilized the innings with useful partnerships. He built an 85-run stand with No 3 bat A Toppo and later a 120-run partnership with Ashutosh Singh until he was sent back. The batsman scored a century as he helped the side to a respectable total on the first day until he was sent back by the J & K bowler. Beigh also claimed A Dhaliwal for naught to finish the day with a four-for. At the end of day’s play, Ashutosh was batting on 41 with A Mandal on zero.
