Centurion Saini and Harshal’s five-for boosts Haryana

The Harshal Patel-led attack bowled Haryana to a first innings lead while wicket-keeper batsman Nitin Saini's century put Haryana in a strong position. The Andhra-Hyderabad game was hanging in the balance at the end of second day’s play in Lucknow. 

Prashant Chopra (144*) boosted Himachal after Darshan Misal helped Goa to a solid total with a ton while Chhattisgarh are in command against J & K.

Group C Round 9 – Day 2 Round-up:

Tripura vs Haryana Kolkata: Haryana 1st inn 231/10 in 66.4 overs (C Bishnoi 52, M Sharma 39*, SS Majumder 3/53, MB Murasingh 3/53); Tripura 1st inn 178/10 in 58 overs (S Patel 102, H Patel 5/27, R Tewatia 2/10); Haryana 2nd inn 186/4 in 43 overs (N Saini 104, S Rohilla 47, B Roy 2/25) Lead by 239 runs

Smit Patel made a valiant century in an effort to keep the Tripura innings afloat even as the Harshal Patel-led attack wrecked the lineup. Tripura were bowled out for an addition of 108 runs to their overnight total after resuming their innings on 70 for four. Patel completed his eighth five-wicket haul as he bowled Haryana to a 53-run first innings lead.

Nitin Saini and Shubham Rohilla then got Haryana off to a good start with a 103-run opening stand as they looked to lay a foundation to set the opposition a formidable target. While Rohilla was sent back by 47 by Bunti Roy, the other opener went on to post a century until he was sent back by MB Murasingh.
At stumps, Haryana were 186 for four and leading by 239 runs as they look to set up the game in their favour with a quarter-final berth in sight.

Hyderabad vs Andhra in Lucknow: Andhra 1st inn 190/10 in 59 overs (M Pranith 63, A Hebber 52, CV Milind 5/28, R Kiran 4/33); Hyd 1st inn 81/5 in 45 overs (B Anirudha 26*, H Agarwal 22, PV Kumar 2/18, S Kumar 2/30) Trail by 109 runs

After resuming their innings on 10 without loss, Hyderabad lost five wickets during the day’s play for the addition of 71 runs. P Vijay Kumar and Siva Kumar claimed two wickets each while Himalay Agarwal was run out. In an effort to hold the innings together, B Anirudh was batting on 26 as he took the team to stumps on 81 for five.

Himachal vs Goa in Mumbai: Goa 1st inn 380/10 in 133 overs (D Misal 106, S Fadte 38*, A Chauhan 3/80); Himachal 1st inn 254/2 in 45 overs (P Chopra 144*, S Verma 70*, A Pandrekar 1/26) Lead by 126 runs

With a century, Darshan Misal helped Goa to a respectable first innings total. Resuming on his overnight score of 68, the batsman made 106 before he was caught by M Dagar off his own bowling. S Fadte (38*) then helped the team to 380 before being bowled out after having resumed their innings on 260 for six earlier in the morning.

Paras Chopra then anchored Himachal to a 126-run lead until the end of day’s play. The opener was batting on 144 with S Verma on 70 as they took Himachal to stumps on 254 for two.

Kerala vs Services in New Delhi:
Services 1st inn 322/10 in 102.1 overs ( A Gupta 105, RS Gahlaut 71, AB Ashraf 4/60, A Chandran 2/49); Kerala 1st inn 31/1 in 11 overs (B Thakker 12*, R Prem 5*, Irfan Khan 1/13) Trail by 291 runs

Anshul Gupta with a century at the top of the order and RS Gahlaut with a well-compiled 71 down the order, helped Services to 322 runs in the first innings after resuming on 103 for four on the second day. The lower middle-order made useful contributions to help the side to a healthy score. 

Debutant AB Ashraf, who gave the team their first breakthrough of the day by claiming S Yadav to leave the team on 108 for five finished with his maiden four-wicket haul. Akshay Chandran and S Warrier claimed two wickets each while Iqbal Abdullah picked one to bowl Services out.

With Irfan Khan claiming Mohammed Azharuddeen with 10 runs on board, captain Rohan Prem joined Bhavin Thakker in the middle. The pair took the team to stumps at 31 for one.

Chhattisgarh vs Jammu & Kashmir in Gwalior:
Chhattisgarh 1st inn 370/10 in 103.4 overs (A Mandal 74, S Ruikar 62, S Beigh 5/94, A Aziz 3/44); J & K 1st inn 33/2 in 13 overs (S Khajuria 9*, P Rao 1/17) Trail by 337 runs

After Chhattisgarh resumed their innings on 217 for six, A Mandal (74) and S Rukair (62) helped Chhattisgarh to 370 before being bowled out with patiently compiled knocks. While Umar Nazir claimed Ashutosh Singh on his overnight score of 41, Mandal and Ruikar helped the team to 352 until the former was sent back by Amir Aziz. The bowler finished with three wickets in the innings while Samiullah Beigh accounted for Ruikar and finished with a five-for.

In reply, J & K were trailing by 337 runs with eight wickets in hand at stumps on Day 2. Shubham Khajuria was batting on nine with Mufti Mohsin, who was yet to open his account when play ended for the day.
