With a five-run win against Baroda, Delhi emerged winners from the plate group of Senior Women’s T20 League, 2016-17. With two wickets each, the skipper and Babita Negi helped bowl the team to a title win.
Earlier, put in to bat, Latika Kumari and Priya Punia had put together 33 runs until Pragya Rawant sent back the former in the seventh over. 10 runs later Mohite accounted for the other opener to reduce Delhi to 44 for two. Malhotra then joined Neha Tanwar in setting the opposition a competitive target. The duo had added 58 for the third wicket until the No 3 bat was run out. With Mandeep Kaur, the Delhi captain then took the team to 115 in their allotted quota of overs.
In reply, P Patel and Y Bhatia then got Baroda off to a good start with a 49-run opening stand until Negi struck. The bowler claimed both openers in the same over to reduce Baroda to 52 for two in the eighth over. TNP and Radha Yadav then joined forces to keep the chase on course until Sonia Lohiya claimed the latter to end the blossoming stand.
