Virat, Shami power India to beat New Zealand

India defeated New Zealand by 45 runs(D/L) in a rain-curtailed warm up match ahead of the Champions Trophy.

The Black Caps won the toss on Sunday and opted to bat first, but were skittled for just 189 in 38.4 overs - Bhuvneshwar Kumar (3-28) and Mohammed Shami (3-47) claiming three wickets apiece.

Luke Ronchi struck 66 off 63 balls at the top of the order for New Zealand, but there was very little else for the Black Caps to celebrate with the bat - James Neesham's 46 not out the only other score above 13.

In reply, India lost Ajinkya Rahane (7) early, but Shikhar Dhawan (40) and captain Virat Kohli rebuilt, the latter notching a 40th ODI fifty with his unbeaten 52.

Kohli was unbeaten on 52 off 55 balls, with six hits to the fence. He was in company of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who was on 17 off 21 balls.

Shortly after Kohli brought up the milestone, the players came off for rain after 26 overs - India well ahead on DLS and ultimately clinching a 45-run win.
