India ‘A’s fourth match of the ongoing one-day quadrangular series had to be abandoned due to rain at the Ray Mitchell Oval, Harrup Park in Mackay. Both teams gained two points each from the game.
Earlier after being asked to bat under overcast condition in Australia, Karun Nair opened the batting with Mandeep Singh for India ‘A’ in absence of Faiz Fazal. However, the opener was sent back by Dwaine Pretorius for 15. Shreyas Iyer was the next to return to the dressing room for four while Mandeep Singh was bowled by Malusi Siboto leaving India ‘A’ on 69 for three.
Manish Pandey and Kedar Jadhav then revived the Indian innings with a 70-run stand. While the captain returned three runs short of a half-century Jadhav continued to take on the bowlers. The middle-order bat was on 41 with Sanju Samson when rain interrupted play. With the weather refusing to let up, the match had to be abandoned with India ‘A’ on 140 for four in 35.2 overs.
