Vinay Kumar, A Sreenath help Karnataka seize lead

A sparkling 165 not out by Ishank Jaggi and a whirlwind 136 by Ishan Kishan tipped the balance in Jharkhand’s favour against Saurashtra. Twin centuries by N Shaikh and Annkeet Bawane helped strengthen Maharashtra’s position after bowlers bundled Vidarbha out for a small total.

Assam’s Kunal Saikia registered maiden hundred in first-class cricket against Odisha while Vinay Kumar and A Sreenath bowled Karnataka to a first innings lead.

Ishank Jaggi (165*) and Ishan Kishan (136) powered Jharkhand to a solid first innings lead with sparkling centuries against Saurhastra.

Jaggi has so far made 165 off 187 balls, while the youngster, plundered 136 off 120 balls before being bowled by Jaydev Unadkat. Resuming on 20 without loss in the morning, Jharkhand had piled on 458 for the loss of seven wickets until stumps on Day 2. When play ended for the day, Jharkhand were 458 for seven.

Maharashtra lost their remaining seven wickets for the addition of 92 runs to their overnight total. Lalit (five wickets) and Shrikant Wagh (four wickets) bowled the team out for 332 on the second day. Wagh set the ball rolling by sending back NS Shaikh (127) to end the fourth wicket stand for 201. With the overnight stand broken for the addition of 20 runs to the total in the morning, wickets fell in a heap. While batsmen at the other end returned without making any substantial contributions to the Maharashtra total, Bawane rallied on to take the team past the 300-run mark. Having resumed his innings on 75, he was eventually sent back by Lalit for 111 leaving the team on 322 for nine. 10 runs later Wagh castled N Dhumal to wrap up the innings.

After a forgettable outing in the first innings, Vidarbha have made a good start to their second innings. SR Ramaswamy and Faiz Fazal put together a 141-run opening partnership until the former was sent back by A Sanklecha. Fazal then took the team to stumps with Ganesh Satish.

Karnataka vs Team Rajasthan in Vizianagarm:
Karnataka 1st inn 374/10 in 99.1 overs (V Kumar 27, TM Ul Haq 5/82); Team Rajasthan 1st inn 148/10 in 54 overs (S Dobal 47, Vinay Kumar 4/28, A Sreenath 4/36); Karnataka 2nd inn 78/0 in 15 overs (Samarath R 46*, KL Rahul 32*) Lead by 304 runs.

After resuming their innings on 345 for the loss of six wickets, Karnataka were bowled out for 374 in the morning. Vinay Kumar and Arvind Sreenath then claimed four wickets each to bowl Karnataka to a 226-run first innings lead. The pace duo skittled Team Rajasthan out for 148 during the day’s play. 

At stumps, openers – R Samarth and KL Rahul had extended Karnataka’s lead to 304 runs.

Resuming his innings on 88 in the morning, Kunal Saikia went to post his maiden century as he helped the team to a decent total in the first innings. Resuming on 224 for five, Assam were bowled out for 301 earlier in the day. In reply Odisha were comfortably placed at 150 for two at stumps. At the end of day’s play, Govind Podder was batting on 81 with S Senapati on 34.
