Sanklecha’s 8/73 rocks Assam

Maharashtra’s Anupam Sanklecha registered his best first-class bowling figures in an innings with his magnificent 8/73 that rocked Assam. After a big first innings total of 542, Assam were bowled out for 256 and were made to follow on in Chennai.

Delhi are in a very good position to secure an outright victory against Team Rajasthan as they need only 102 runs to win on the final day. Having already conceded a first innings lead, Karnataka are in trouble against Odisha at Palam in New Delhi.

Group B, Round 7 - Day 3 Round-up:

Delhi vs Team Rajasthan in Wayanad:
Team Raj 238/10 in 71.3 overs (A Gautam 106, D Chahar 47, NA Saini 3/28, V Tokas 3/48) & 221/10 (R K Bishnoi Sr 89, Pradeep Sangwan 3/31) v Delhi 307/10 in 91.4 overs (Rishabh Pant 75, T M Ul Haq 3/55) & 51/3 (Shikhar Dhawan 35*, Pankaj Singh 1/21) Need 102 runs to win

Delhi need 102 runs on the final day while Team Rajasthan are seven wickets away from securing a win in their respective Group B clash in Wayanad. Set a target of 153 runs after Rajasthan’s second innings ended for 221, Delhi were 51/3 from 14 overs.

Shikhar Dhawan was unbeaten on 35 and hit six boundaries in the 35 balls that he faced. Gautam Gambhir was out on the first ball of the fifth over off Pankaj Singh. In-form Rishabh Pant was run-out and was had to return to the pavilion without facing a ball.

Karnataka vs Odisha at Palam in New Delhi: Karnataka 179 (Chidambaram Gautam 54; Basant Mohanty 3 for 46, Biplab Samantray 2 for 20) & 244/6 (CM Gautam 68, R Samarth 49, Dhiraj Singh 3/54) lead Odisha 342/10 (Saurabh Rawat 85, Biplab Samantray 58, Shreyas Gopal 5/75) by 81 runs.

At New Delhi’s Palam ground, Karnataka are in a tricky position against Odisha with a lead of 81 runs going into the final day’s play. After being bowled out for just 179, Karnataka put up a better show in the second, but at 244/6, they are still in danger. A lot a lot will depend on C. Gautam who is unbeaten on 68 off 180 balls. Odisha have first innings lead and will look to get outright win on the final day.

Saurashtra vs Vidarbha in Delhi:
Sau 301/10 in 86.1 overs (S Jackson 116, C Jani 78, R Gurbani 4/85) & 92/2 (Snell Patel 60*, SB Wagh 1/4) lead Vid 347/10 (Faiz Fazal 94, Sanjay Ramaswamy 77, V M Jivrajani 4/93) by 46 runs

Vidarbha managed to secure a first innings lead of 46 runs against Saurashtra at the Karnail Singh Stadium, Delhi. Vidarbha lost their seven wickets for 105 runs but the top-order’s hard work helped them pull through and inch close to the 350-mark. Vandit Jivrajani picked four wickets while Jaydev Unadkat had two to his name. In their second innings, opener Amitoze Singh was dismissed for five by Srikant Wagh, but Snell Patel, playing just his second first-class game, remained unbeaten on 60. Wagh bowled with a lot of discipline as he six of his seven overs were maiden.

Assam vs Maharashtra in Chennai:
Maha 1st inn 542/10 in 90 overs (Kedar Jadhav 115, Chirag Khurana 112* Naushad Shaikh 97, Abu Nechim 3/83) lead Assam f/0 256/10 (Rishav Das 86, Anupam Sanklecha 8/73) & 115/6 (Arun Karthik 33*, Anupam Sanklecha 3/37, M Sayed 2/21) by 171 runs

The Assam batters seem to have no solution for Maharashtra’s Anupam Sanklecha, who has single handedly destroyed their batting-order. Sanklecha picked a whopping 8/73 from 22 overs in the first innings and returned to 3/37 in the second innings once Assam were made to follow on. The batting that hasn’t clicked needs to find its footing on the fourth day or else they risk losing the game outright. At Stumps, Assam trail Maharashtra by 171 runs and only have four wickets left.
