Haryana captain Virender Sehwag set the stage on fire with 136 against Karnataka in Mysore a day after announcing his retirement from international cricket. In another match, Mumbai’s Shreyas Iyer blasted his way to 167* against Baroda on Day 1 of the fourth round of the Ranji Trophy 2015-16. While Umesh Yadav too was in the midst of action and claimed four wickets for Vidarbha against Assam, Ravindra Jadeja claimed six for 75 against Hyderabad.

Bengal vs Delhi: Bengal 1st inn 272/3 (S Chatterjee 108*, W Saha 67*, M Tiwary 55, P Sangwan 1/36)
Put in to bat, Sudip Chatterjee helped Bengal to 272 on the first day with a century. The top-order bat was batting on 108 when play ended for the day in Delhi.
Haryana vs Karnataka: Haryana 1st inn 319/8 (V Sehwag 136, J Yadav 100, HS Sharath 4/47)
After announcing retirement from international cricket, Virender Sehwag lit up Mysore with a swashbuckling 136 off 170 ball with three sixes and 16 boundaries against Karnataka.
After Sehwag was back in the dressing room, HS Sharath ran through the lower half of the Haryana lineup to finish the day with four for 47.
Team Rajasthan vs Maharashtra: Team Rajasthan 258/5 in 1st inn (A Menaria 84, R Bhatia 59)
Ashok Menaria held the Rajasthan innings together with a well compiled 84 and ably supported by Rajat Bhatia helped the hosts to a respectable score on Day 1 in Jaipur.
Assam vs Vidarbha: Assam 206/10 in 1st inn (Syed Mohammed 69, A Wakhare 4/47, U Yadav 4/49), Vid 1/0, Trail by 205
After Assam elected to bat in Nagpur, Umesh Yadav rattled the visitors top-order to leave them 2 for one and then claimed two more wickets later in the day to finish with four wickets in the bag on the first day.

Madhya Pradesh vs Punjab: MP 1st inn 251/5 (A Shrivastava 105*, J Saxena 70, S Ladda 2/62)
Aditya Shrivastava has kept MP in the fray with 105 not out. He anchored the innings as MP continued to lose wickets at regular intervals in Patiala after the end of his opening stand with Jalaj Saxena for 152.
Railways vs Gujarat: Gujarat 1st inn 286/6 (P Panchal 141, P Patel 58, AA Nandi 2/34)
With a well compiled 141 P Panchal helped Gujarat to 286/6 in Delhi against hosts Railways.
Andhra vs Uttar Pradesh: UP 1st inn 170/10 (P Kumar 47, T Srivastava 42, S Kumar 3/29, Stephen 3/41); Andhra 77/10 1st inn (KS Bharat 56*, DB Prashanth Kumar 21*)
Praveen Kumar made valuable 47 while the UP lineup crumbled in Ongole against Andhra in the first innings.
Baroda vs Mumbai: Mumbai 1st inn 317/3 ( S Iyer 167*, SK Yadav 66*)
Shreyas Iyer propelled Mumbai to a formidable total on the first day with 167 not out. Ably supported by Suryakumar Yadav, the top-order bat, took on the Baroda bowlers in Vadodara.

HP vs Goa: Goa 1st inn 265/7 (S Kamat 124*, S Kauthankar 74, R Dhawan 5/86)
Visitors Goa were propelled to a healthy total on the first day by Sagun Kamat. The top-order batsman anchored the innings with 124* in Dharamsala.
Saurashtra vs Hyderabad: Sau 1st inn 102/10 (S Jogiyani 51, M Hasan 5/43, V Sharma 4/30); Hyd 1st inn 148/10 (S Kolla 41, R Jadeja 6/75, K Makwana 4/23); Sau 2nd inn 10/0 - Trail by 36 runs
Twenty wickets fell in Rajkot on first day. While Mehdi Hasan picked a five-for to bowl the hosts out for 102, Hyderabad were bowled out by Ravindra Jadeja and K Makwana for 148 after taking a first innings lead.
Services vs Kerala: Kerala 198/2 (R Prem 79*, S Baby 32*, V Hathwala 1/19)
Kerala were helped to 198 for two by Rohan Prem, who was batting on 79 at the end of day’s play in Delhi.
Tripura vs Jammu and Kashmir: J & K 1st inn 303/4 (M Manhas 96, P Rasool 129*, MB Mura Singh 2/61, R Datta 2/68)
After J & K were left reeling on 58 for three, Parvez Rasool joined forces with Mithun Manhas to stabilise the innings and then carried on to take the team past 300 until stumps was called. He was batting on 129 at the end of day’s play in Agartala.

Wriddhiman Saha was batting on 67* for Bengal against Delhi at stumps.
Bengal captain Manoj Tiwary made a useful 55 on first day against Delhi.
Yuvraj Singh bowled four overs for 16 runs against MP
Naman Ojha was sent back for three by Punjab’s Sarbjeet Ladda
Veteran batsman Devendra Bundela was out for naught in the match against Punjab.
Yusuf Pathan bowled conceded 26 runs in four overs as Baroda looked to rein Mumbai batsmen in.
Parthiv Patel made 58 against Railways.
Ravindra Jadeja claimed six for 75 against Hyderabad
Rishi Dhawan claimed five for 86 against Goa in Dharamsala.
