BCCI President addresses the media

BCCI President, Mr. Shashank Manohar, addressed the conglomeration of media persons at the Cricket Centre in Mumbai after the BCCI’s Annual General Meeting.

Here is the transcript.

Today, at the Annual General Meeting of the Board, all the members were unanimous in their approach in seeing in that the Board functions in the most transparent manner. Contrary to the expectations of the media, the members unanimously approved the rules with regard to Conflict of Interest. They also unanimously approved the amendments to the Constitution. Everybody spoke in the meeting in favour of a clean and transparent functioning of the Board.

With regard to other issues, the Board granted Test status to Pune, Vizag, Ranchi, Indore, Rajkot and Dharamsala. Next year, we are going to have about 12 Test matches in India and these stadiums have all the facilities for hosting international games and which are approved.

The Board also formed various committees. The IPL Governing Council is headed by Mr. Rajiv Shukla with Mr. Jyotiraditya Scindia, Mr. M P Pandove, Mr. Ajay Shirke and Mr. Sourav Ganguly as the members.

With regard to conflict of interest, the ombudsman appointed by the members of the Board is Justice A P Shah, who would look into the complaint if any.

The Board has also decided to have people appointed in the Board who are professionals so that the Board could be managed professionally. The accounts were passed and as I had promised, the entire Annual General Report which has been circulated to the members of the Board is uploaded on the website of the Board (bcci.tv). Each and every paper which was circulated to the members of the Board is now put up on the website and is available to each and every citizen of the country.

As far as whatever I had said a month before that we would clean up the system and run the Board in the most transparent fashion, we have done at present whatever we could.
