Day-two of the second Test will be all about whether India can continue their domination. They were excellent on day-one after winning the toss and bowling first. They were quite brilliant.
Then they also started well with the bat and South Africa had a disappointing day. So South Africa have to somehow work their magic with the ball. Try and get some early wickets and bowl better than they did in the afternoon session. Day-two is going to be about the line and length that South Africa bowl.
It is also going to be about more aggression. Can Morne Morkel come out and bowl aggressively in the first hour and get an early breakthrough? Can South Africa field better? They need to! They missed an opportunity and dropped a catch (of M Vijay) and it just wasn't their day.
South Africa will have to lift their performance significantly to stay in this match. The pitch is nowhere near the type of surface it was in Mohali. In fact, it is quite a good surface to bat on and India showed that.
India would want to increase their dominance on day-two. Shikhar Dhawan would be relieved that he is back in form, but he would want to continue and bat for a long period. Murali Vijay has looked in superb form so far in the series as well, so India would be pinning their hopes on him as well.
It could be the day for the middle-order too. It is a good batting surface. The pitch is not going to deteriorate a lot today (day-two). There is not going to be a great deal of help for the bowlers. The conditions are ideal for the Indian middle order to stamp their authority on this match even further.
It is all going to be about the first session. If India withstand the pressure and don't lose wickets, they are going to dominate as the day progresses. South Africa on the other hand, have to make early inroads to stay in this game.
