BCCI's clarification over false media reports

MEDIA RELEASE

The BCCI normally does not respond to news reports concerning its internal functioning, but the story put out by the PTI on 22 May 2015 has provoked us to address the misinformation concerning the Honourable Justice Lodha Committee. The figure of Rs. 3.90 crore that is reported to have been spent by the BCCI on the Committee is wholly false and concocted, and is clearly suggested by one who is inimical to the Committee or the BCCI. Over the last 4 months since its formation, the Committee has had more than a dozen sittings in various parts of the country and the amount spent is less than a tenth of what has been misreported.

It does not behoove a news agency such as the PTI to carry such a piece without basic verification of facts. The story has resulted in casting the Supreme Court appointed Committee in very poor light. We look forward to an immediate retraction and correction of the story so that it appears with equal prominence in tomorrow's edition of all the papers that have carried the same.
