In a blow to Pakistan, Mohammad Hafeez has been ruled out of the 2015 World Cup with a calf injury.
The all-rounder sustained the injury during Pakistan’s recent ODI series against New Zealand and has been advised three week’s rest by the team’s medical staff.
Batsman Nasir Jamshed has been called up to replace Hafeez in the squad.
Hafeez joins the host of players that Pakistan have lost ahead of the World Cup including injured fast bowlers Umar Gul and Junaid Khan, and Saeed Ajmal, who pulled out of the tournament following the report against his bowling action.
Ajmal, however, has been cleared by the ICC after the retests but hasn’t been summoned by the Pakistan team yet.
Pakistan begin their World Cup with the match against India in Adelaide on February 15.
