Mumbai, Aug 18: Good news has been coming Yuvraj’s way with rather consistency of late. After finding his name in the squad for the World Twenty20, 2012, Yuvraj has now been confirmed as this year’s recipient of the Arjuna Award.
The Union Sports Ministry announced on Saturday that they have accepted BCCI’s nomination of the all-rounder for the prestigious award presented for sporting brilliance. Yuvraj was the Player of the Tournament in the ICC 2011 World Cup, which India won in front of a billion adoring supporters at home.
After fighting a successful battle with cancer, Yuvraj is set to make a stunning comeback on the cricket field with the two Twenty20 Internationals against New Zealand.
The ministry has also decided to reward Olympic medal-winners Vijay Kumar (shooting) and Yogeshwar Dutt (wrestling) with Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award. While Vijay Kumar won silver, Yogeshwar won a bronze at the recently-concluded mega showdown.
