TN take lead, Delhi bowlers fight back

 

Mumbai, Nov 2: Delhi bowlers staged a superb comeback on day 2 to restrict Bengal for 473 in their first innings in the Ranji Trophy Super League match at the Ferozeshah Kotla in New Delhi on Tuesday.

The home team then scored 89 runs for the loss of one wicket at close of play. Shikhar Dhawan (33) and Virat Kohli (51) remained unbeaten after Ashok Dinda claimed the wicket of Chetan Sharma for 3.

Earlier, Bengal added 160 runs to their overnight total of 313 for two, but lost eight wickets in process.

Sumit Narwal (3-61), Parvinder Awana (2-88) and Pradeep Sangwan bowled well to get Delhi back into the match.

For Bengal, Saurasish Lahiri (68 not out) and Wriddhiman Saha (36) were the top scorers on day 2.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu took a big lead against Assam after scoring 300 for four in reply to Assam's first innings total of 184 at stumps.

Subramaniam Badrinath missed out on a possible century after getting out on 83. Tamil Nadu eased past Assam's total as Badrinath and Satish Rajagopal (74 not out) added 135 runs for the fourth wicket.
