New Delhi, Nov 8: Indian batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar today achieved yet another staggering milestone as he crossed the 15,000-run mark in Test cricket.
Playing in his 182nd match, Tendulkar reached the mark on Day 3 of the first Test against the West Indies when he scored his 28th run in India's second innings with a single off leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo.
Tendulkar, who was 35 runs short of 15,000 before this match, scored seven runs in the first innings before being adjudged leg-before off Fidel Edwards.
Starting the day cautiously with India on 95 runs for the loss of two wickets, Tendulkar played the waiting game in the company of his trusted partner Rahul Dravid to avert a batting collapse like in the first innings. In an unbroken partnership of 57 runs, Tendulkar scored 33 off 87 deliveries when stumps were called.
At the age of 38, the star stands on the brink of yet another milestone – the much-awaited 100th century; the prolific batsman has scored 51 Test tons and 48 ODI hundreds so far.
Rahul Dravid is the second highest run-getter in Tests with 12,859 runs while Australian Ricky Ponting is third on the list with 12487 runs.
