Mumbai, Nov 20: Sudeep Tyagi and Bhuvneshwar Kumar ran through the Baroda batting order and defended the target of 175 runs as Uttar Pradesh registered a nerve-wrecking 32-run win on the final day of their Ranji encounter.
Tyagi took six wickets and Bhuvneshwar Kumar claimed four as the Baroda batsmen failed to hold their nerves during the chase.
Baroda was on course for a comfortable win when Yusuf Pathan and KH Devdhar were at the crease but once the duo were dismissed the batting line-up collapsed to some quality medium fast bowling.
Pathan made 49 runs before being caught by Singh off Kumar and Devdhar scored 46.
Meanwhile, Mumbai continued to seize the key moments in their match and won a close encounter against Railways.
Earlier, Ajinkya Rahane made 94 runs to provide Mumbai a firm base for the chase but the youngster was unfortunate to miss out on a century.Rahane’s dismissal in the 86th over triggered the Mumbai collapse Murali Kartik and JP Yadav claiming three wickets a piece. But, Rohit Sharma guided Mumbai to overhaul the target of 251 runs with an unbeaten 31-run knock.
