Mumbai, Nov 11: Mumbai were in total control of their match against Bengal in Kolkata after they declared at 621/8 thanks to a wonderful double ton from Rohit Sharma. The middle order batsman scored 200* in just 257 balls, but had wasteful Bengal catching to thank, who dropped the 23-year-old several times during his mammoth knock. Iqbal Abdulla gave Sharma ample support from the other end with a well-made 81 to his credit. And the reigning champions ensured their supremacy after Aavishkar Salvi dismissed Arindam Das (8), leaving Bengal tottering at 28/1 at the end of second day’s play.
Over in Chennai, Delhi were skittle out for 318 thanks to R. Ashwin’s impressive spell with the ball. The Tamil Nadu bowler took 5 for 94 to turn the tide dramatically in the home side’s favour. But Delhi fought back impressively with left-arm spinner Vikas Mishra getting rid of three Tamil Nadu batsmen to leave them struggling on 122/5 at the end of day’s play.
