The last session of the day began with the fast bowlers up for auction.
Sri Lankan fast bowler Dilhara Fernando was the first bowler up for bidding. He remained unsold at his base price of USD 100,000.
Fast bowler from England, James Anderson, also remained unsold at his base price - USD 400,000.
Ishant Sharma, Indian pacer, was sold to Deccan Chargers for USD 450,000.
Praveen Kumar, Indian quick bowler and hat-trick man from IPL 2010, was bought for USD 800,000 by KXIP.
Another Indian pacer, Ashish Nehra, was the next player up for auction. He fetched USD 850,000. Team Pune made the winning bid.
Australian speed machine Brett Lee was up next. Kolkata Knight Riders bought him at his base price of USD 400,000.
South African fast bowler Morne Morkel was sold for USD 475,000 to Delhi Daredevils.
The world's premier fast bowler, South African Dale Steyn, stormed into the auction and drew a staggering USD 1.2 million from the Deccan Chargers.
Australian speedster Ryan Harris was bought for USD 325,000 by KXIP.
Australian pacer Dirk Nannes was sold for USD 650,000 to RCB.
The last fast bowler up for auction, Australian Doug Bollinger, fetched USD 700,000. Chennai Super Kings made the winning bid.
Spin bowlers were the next group in the spotlight. Sri Lankan legend Muttiah Muralitharan was sold for USD 1.1 million to Team Kochi.
English spinner Graeme Swann remained unsold at his base price of USD 400,000.
Indian spinner Piyush Chawla was sold for USD 900,000 to KXIP.
R Ashwin, Indian spinner, was bought by Chennai Super Kings for USD 850,000.
Sri Lankan spinner Ajantha Mendis remained unsold at his base price of USD 200,000.
Indian spinner Pragyan Ojha was sold to Deccan Chargers for USD 500,000.
Indian spinner Murali Kartik remained unsold at his base price of USD 200,000.
Indian spinner Amit Mishra, with a base price of USD 100,000, was sold to Deccan Chargers for USD 300,000.
Kiwi spinner Nathan McCullum was sold for his base price USD 100,000 to Team Pune.
Indian spinner Ramesh Powar was sold for USD 180,000 to Team Kochi.
It was then time for the batsmen to return to the auction. Sri Lankan Chamara Kapugedera remained unsold at his base price of USD 100,000.
Australian batsman Aaron Finch was sold for USD 300,000 to Delhi Daredevils.
England batsman Eoin Morgan was sold to KKR for USD 350,000.
Australian batsman Brad Hodge fetched USD 425,000 at the auction. Team Kochi made the winning bid.
Tamim Iqbal from Bangladesh remained unsold at his base price of USD 100,000.
Australian batsman Callum Ferguson was sold for USD 300,000 to Team Pune.
Indian batsman Manoj Tiwary was sold for USD 475,000 to KKR.
Indian batsman Cheteshwar Pujara's base price was set at USD 100,000. The new recruit into the national side was sold to RCB for USD 700,000.
Indian batsman S Badrinath was sold to Chennai Super Kings for USD 800,000.
England batsman Paul Collingwood, recently retired from Tests, was the last player up for auction on Day 1. He was bought by Rajasthan Royals for USD 250,000.
