Manipur lift A&A U-22 trophy

Kolkata, Feb 2: Manipur lifted the Affiliate and Associate Member Under-22 title after securing a six-wicket win over Meghalaya in the final in Kolkata.

Batting first, Meghalaya were dismissed for 233 in 50 overs with WR Nunglettam (9-1-55-3) and Thounaojam (9-1-55-3) being the chief wicket-takers for Manipur. Meghalaya reached a respectable total mainly due to a fine century from RR Biswa who scored 140 off 147 balls with 19 hits to the fence.

Manipur achieved the target with two overs and six wickets to spare. Unlike Meghalaya, Manipur’s batting performance was a team effort. While Robinson Ibotombi top-scored with 79 runs (83 balls) including 11 fours, three other batsmen, RS Ngangom (45 off 63 balls), MI Ngangbam (42 off 71 balls) and SB Thokchom (35 off 42 balls) played useful cameos. Centurion Biswa was also Meghalaya’s best bowler with figures of three for 45 in 10 overs.

Manipur 236-4 in 48 overs (Robinson Ibotombi 79; RR Biswa 3-45) beat Meghalaya 233-10 in 50 overs (RR Biswa 140; WR Nunglettam 55-3) by 6 wickets
