Match report: WI vs Ind (Women), 1st T20I

Antigua, Feb 19: The West Indies women's squad comprehensively beat the India women's team in the first T20I of the series, at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, by eight wickets and with four overs to spare.

Opting to bat first, Anjum Chopra’s Indian side put up a meagre 101 with Harmanpreet Kaur top-scoring with 28 runs. Opener Amita Sharma, run-out for five runs, was the first to return to the dressing room followed by Mithali Raj (14). Back in the side after an impressive domestic season, Chopra departed after adding just 11 runs to the total.

WI's spinner Anisa Mohammed claimed three wickets while Stacy-Ann King, Stafanie Taylor, Shemaine Campbelle picked a wicket each.

Chasing 102, WI’s Juliana Nero was bowled by pacer Jhulan Goswami in the first over for a duck. Although they lost an opener early, the hosts chased the target comfortably losing just more wicket along the way. No. 3 bat Taylor led the chase with an unbeaten 54 while Deandra Dottin scored an unbeaten 29.
