Match report: WI vs Ind (Women), 5th T20I

St Kitts, Feb 28: India won the last T20I of the five-match series against West Indies by six wickets at the Warner Park in Basseterre, St Kitts.

After a 31-run opening stand, India lost Sulakshana Naik, Amita Sharma and Mudhari Mehta in quick succession to find themselves tottering at 33 for three. But Mithali Raj revived the chase with an unbeaten 31-ball 37. Harmanpreet Kaur, who came out to bat with the hosts struggling at 60 for four, helped India clinch victory with a 22-ball 36-run cameo.

Earlier, asked to bat, West Indies made 115 for the loss of four wickets. They lost their top three batsmen with only 60 runs on the board. Opener Stafanie Taylor, standing in for captain Merissa Aguilleira, was out for five, caught at gully by Mithal Raj off Shubhalaxmi Sharma. Deandra Dottin then holed out to Kaur in the deep, also off pacer Sharma. However, Shemaine Campbelle (37) and Stacy-Ann King (340) ensured that the hosts reached a respectable total with a 52-run partnership.    

Despite winning the last game, the visitors have lost the series 2-3. The two teams will now play a three-match ODI series beginning February 29, 2012.
