With a 125-run knock, Andhra opener Srikar Bharat set-up victory for his team against Goa while Jatin Saxena helped MP chase down the target against Rajasthan. And KL Rahul (110) and Robin Uthappa (103) knocked tons for Karnataka against Hyderabad in the South Zone encounter. Here is the round-up for the day:
South Zone
Kerala vs Tamil Nadu in Goa: Kerala posted a five-wicket win over Tamil Nadu at the Dr Rajendra Prasad Stadium in Margao.
Opting to bat first TN made 257 for seven in the 47 overs a side match. Dinesh Karthik top-scored for the team with 73 while V Yo Mahesh made 40 not out to help set a competitive target for Kerala. With 85 not out Sanju Samson then powered Kerala to victory with three balls to spare while Sachin Baby contributed 61 runs lower down the order.
Hyderabad vs Karnataka in Goa: Karnataka won by 47 runs against Hyderabad in the ongoing one-day league matches. Centurions KL Rahul (110) and Robin Uthappa (103) helped Karnataka post 305 for nine while batting first while Akshay KL and Stuart Binny claimed four wickets each to take their team to victory. GH Vihari top-scored for Hyderabad with 84 runs.
Goa vs Andhra in Goa: Andhra bowled Goa out for 91 runs after setting them a 262 –run target to register a thumping 170-run victory.
Andhra opener Srikar Bharat smashed 125 runs to propel his team to 261 after they were asked to bat. While Syed Shahbuddin claimed the top three Goa batters while DP Vijaykumar and AG Praveen dismissed the middle-order with two wickets each and B Sudhakar wrapped up the tail with a three-wicket haul to take Andhra to victory.
East Zone
Jharkhand vs Bengal in Kolkata: Chasing 162 runs Bengal beat Jharkhand by three wickets.
The Bengal bowlers bowled Jharkhand out for 161. Mohammad Sami, LU Shukla and I A Saxena picked three wickets each SS Lahiri took one to bowl the opposition out for a low total. The Jharkhand bowlers too struck early to keep themselves in the game but the Bengal middle-order batsmen took their team across the line with valuable contributions. Subhomoy Das made 36 while WP Saha made 37 and Sami chipped in with 23 not out.
Tripura vs Odisha in Jadhavpur, Bengal: Odisha beat Tripura by four-wickets in the ongoing one-day matches.
The Odisha bowlers bowled Tripura out for 165 after opting to field. However, chasing the target Odisha too lost quick wickets early in the innings but the lower middle-order batsmen LL Samal (33) and RK Mohanty (42*) stabilised the innings and ensured a win for Odisha.
West Zone
Baroda vs Saurashtra in Pune: Chasing 300 runs Baroda registered a one-wicket won over Saurashtra with four balls to spare.
Earlier Saurashtra’s RR Dave was run out for 96 while SP Jackson made 61 runs to help set a formidable target for Baroda. In reply Baroda lost their top-order early and were tottering on 48 for four but YM Pathan (116) and JB Chhaya (82) fought back to bring the team within sniffing distance of the target while Bharghav Bhatt and SM Singh took the team across the line in the closely fought encounter.
Central Zone
MPCA vs Rajasthan in Indore: MPCA beat Rajasthan in the Central Zone match by six wickets. With an unbeaten century Jatin Saxena helped his team chase down 212 runs to post a win.
UPCA vs Vidarbha in Indore: UPCA beat Vidarbha by 96 runs. Uttar Pradesh posted 286 for six after being asked to bat. The UP bowlers then ran through the Vidarbha line-up to claim victory for their team. Imtiyaz Ahmed picked three scalps while RG Pal, AS Mishra and AG Murtaza took two wickets apiece.
