Kanpur’s Green Park was hosting a one-day international after a gap of five years. The last ODI played here was in November 2008 between India and England.
Ravi Rampaul completed his 100 ODI wickets with the dismissal of Virat Kohli. He became the 14th West Indian bowler to do so.
Shikhar Dhawan (119) scored his fifth ODI hundred – all five have come this year.
This was also Dhawan’s highest ODI score, obliterating his 116 against Zimbabwe at Harare on July 26, 2013.
By taking just 28 innings, Dhawan equalled Sri Lanka’s Upul Tharanga’s record of being the quickest to score five ODI hundreds.
Dhawan’s 73-ball hundred is the second-fastest by an Indian batsman against West Indies. Virender Sehwag had taken 69 balls for his hundred during his innings of 219 at Indore in 2011.
Yuvraj Singh (55) made his second fifty in 15 innings since making a return to the Indian side.
India’s 266 for five is the highest successful chase by any side at Green Park, beating England’s 259 for four in a Nehru Cup game in 1989.
The win gave India their sixth consecutive series win since the series against England earlier this year. This equalled India’s best series winning streak for in ODIs. They had also won 6 series in a row between 2008 and 2009. The all-time record is 10 held by Australia. The details of India’s 6 series wins on the trot are as follows:

MS Dhoni became only the third batsman to remain unbeaten 50 times in a winning cause in ODIs, joining two Australians, Michael Bevan (53) and Steve Waugh (50).
The win was India’s 50th against West Indies in 112 ODIs. West Indies are the third side against whom India have won 50 or more ODIs. Others are: Sri Lanka (78) and Pakistan (50).
India have now won 9 out of 12 ODIs played at Kanpur.
