New Delhi, Feb 3: Warning competing sides in the ICC World Cup about the formidable Sachin Tendulkar-Virender Sehwag combination, Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh exuded confidence about his team’s chances at the most prestigious limited overs tournament in world cricket.
“Both [Tendulkar and Sehwag] are outstanding players and if they play the first 15 overs, the other teams will be in danger,” said Harbhajan speaking to media-persons ahead of the mega-tournament.
“If Sachin and Sehwag stay together at the crease for the first 15 overs, it would be very difficult for the opposition to come back into the match," he added.
Harbhajan was equally upbeat about India’s spin department.
“It is great to have a lot of options in the team. We have got different types of spinners. We have left-arm spinner Ravichandran Ashwin who performed well in the IPL. Leg-spinner Piyush Chawla brings variation in the attack,” he said.
“We have got good batsmen and we can chase any target. I am sure if we work hard, stay focussed, we will do well,” he said with characteristic confidence.
“I am glad that we have got a team [that] can compete against any opponent. I have always believed that if we play to our potential, we can beat any team,” Harbhajan said.
