Mumbai, Dec 12: West Indies’ Kemar Roach reached the 50-wicket mark, Ravi Rampaul (86*) posted the highest ever score for a No. 10 batsman and Kieron Pollard scored his maiden ODI ton including a record 10 sixes. India weren’t too shabby themselves, earning their biggest bilateral series win against West Indies. On the way, Rahul Sharma picked three wickets on debut and Virat Kohli became the leading run-getter of the year. But if the five-match ODI series is to be remembered by one image, it is that of a triumphant Virender Sehwag, having toppled the ODI record for highest individual score set by his role model Sahin Tendulkar. In the first ODI at Cuttack, Kemar Roach reached the 50-wicket mark in ODIs with the dismissal of Virat Kohli. He became the 28th West Indies player to do so.

In the second ODI at Visakhapatnam, Ravi Rampaul (86*) made the highest score by a No. 10 batsman in ODIs, bettering Pakistan’s Mohammad Amir’s unbeaten 73 against New Zealand at Abu Dhabi in 2009.

Rampaul added 99 runs with Kemar Roach for the tenth wicket without being separated at Visakhapatnam – the highest tenth-wicket partnership in ODIs against India. The previous highest tenth-wicket partnership against India was 71 between Andy Roberts and Joel Garner, also for West Indies, at Manchester in 1983.

In the fourth ODI at Indore, Virender Sehwag (219) made the highest individual score in ODIs, beating Sachin Tendulkar’s unbeaten 200 against South Africa at Gwalior in 2010.

Sehwag’s innings at Indore included 25 fours. With this he equalled the existing ODI record for most fours in an innings. Sachin Tendulkar had also hit 25 fours during his epic 200*.

During his innings, Sehwag raced to his hundred off just 69 balls, the sixth time he has scored an ODI hundred in 75 or fewer balls. He now holds the world record for scoring the most 75-ball hundreds in ODIs. He was earlier level with Sri Lanka’s Sanath Jayasuriya who has five such 100s against his name.

Sehwag also completed 8,000 runs in ODIs during his marathon knock at Indore. He became the 24th batsman overall, and sixth from India, to reach this milestone.

India posted their highest total in ODIs (418 for five) at Indore, bettering the 414 for seven they made against Sri Lanka at Rajkot in 2009.

At Indore, Rahul Sharma, making his ODI debut, took a wicket in each of his first three overs, a new Indian record. Each of the three wickets came off the sixth ball of the over and on all occasions the victim was bowled.

At Chennai, Virat Kohli became the leading run-scorer in ODIs this year, surpassing England’s Jonathan Trott’s tally of 1,316 runs. Kohli ended the year with 1,381 runs against his name from 34 games (at an average of 47.62) with four hundreds.

Kieron Pollard completed 1,000 runs in ODIs at Chennai. He became the 28th West Indies player to do so.

Pollard hit 10 sixes during his innings of 119 at Chennai. He now holds the record for hitting the most sixes in a match against India. The previous record was of nine sixes jointly held by Pakistan’s Ijaz Ahmed and Shahid Afridi.

India registered their biggest series win (4-1) over West Indies in a bilateral series, equalling the feat with Mohammad Azharuddin’s team in 1994-‘95.
