About HARMANPREET

Harmanpreet Kaur made her international debut in 2009, only a day before her 20th birthday, and over the last decade and a half has cemented her name as one of the most influential figures in Indian cricket history. A dynamic right-handed batter capable of hitting the ball to any part of the park at will, to go with her right-arm off-spin capabilities, Harmanpreet’s leadership ability is arguably her biggest asset.

She quickly cemented her place in the Indian team across formats as a game-changer. The first glimpse of Harmanpreet’s captaincy skills came only three years into her international career when she led India to the Asia Cup title in the T20 format. In 2016, she was appointed as the all-format captain, and thus began a journey that led to Harmanpreet becoming the first Indian captain ever to win an ICC Women’s World Cup title in 2025.

The Moga, Punjab-born Harmanpreet’s knock of 171*(115) in the 2017 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup semi-final against the mighty Australia is still regarded as one of the greatest innings in the history of the game. Such was the authority and confidence Harmanpreet displayed.

In the last few years, Team India also registered its first-ever Test victory over Australia in 2023, clinched a Commonwealth Games silver medal in 2022 & Asian Games gold medal in 2023, and sealed a first T20I series win over England in 2025, all under Harmanpreet’s leadership. The 36-year-old also became the first captain to win two TATA WPL titles in 2025. But her crowning jewel as a captain and player came in November 2025, when she led Team India to its first Women’s World Cup title of any kind. In the semi-final, once again against Australia, Harmanpreet’s 89 in a partnership of 167 with Jemimah Rodrigues was instrumental to a famous victory.

With over 8000 international runs, Harmanpreet is already an all-time great and continues to be a force to reckon with anywhere she plays.
