About

Born in Mumbai, Shreyas Iyer showed early promise as a cricketer. Growing up in the cricket-crazed city, he honed his skills in the local cricket circuits, catching the attention of selectors with his natural talent and elegant stroke play.

Shreyas made his debut for Mumbai in the 2014-15 season of the Ranji Trophy, India's premier domestic first-class competition. His consistent performances in domestic cricket quickly propelled him into the spotlight, earning him a reputation as a stylish and technically sound batsman.

Shreyas Iyer made his international debut for India in a T20I against New Zealand in November 2017. Subsequently, he earned a place in the ODI squad and became a regular in the middle order. Known for his ability to handle pressure situations and rotate the strike effectively, he became an integral part of the Indian limited-overs setup.

He is recognized for his stylish and technically correct batting. He is comfortable playing both spin and pace and has a wide range of shots in his repertoire. His ability to adapt to different formats and situations makes him a valuable asset in all forms of the game.

In 2021, Shreyas Iyer faced a setback due to a shoulder injury that kept him out of action for a significant period. However, he made a strong comeback, showcasing his resilience and determination to contribute to the Indian team. He was also part of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, 2023 hosted by India.
