About JASPRIT

One of the greatest fast bowlers of the modern era, Jasprit Bumrah isn’t just a national hero but a global cricketing phenomenon. His rapid rise in international cricket began with impressive performances in the domestic arena. The skillful pacer made his debut for Gujarat in the 2013–14 season of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, India’s premier domestic T20 competition. He impressed on his first-class debut, picking up seven wickets against Vidarbha in Nagpur in the 2013-14 Ranji Trophy. His domestic performances quickly caught the eye of selectors, earning him a spot in the Mumbai Indians squad for the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Bumrah’s international breakthrough came in January 2016, when he made his debut for the Indian national team in Australia. He impressed on debut with figures of 10-0-40-2 in the Sydney ODI against Australia. His unique action, pinpoint yorkers, and ability to vary pace made an immediate impact, securing him a regular place in India’s limited-overs setup.

Two years later, he made his Test debut at Cape Town against South Africa, immediately making a mark with four wickets in the match. Since then, Bumrah has mesmerised the cricketing world with his pace, swing, seam, accuracy, and variations. With a deadly combination of hard work, skill, adaptability, and tactical acumen, he has consistently delivered game-changing spells and match-winning performances across formats.

He played pivotal roles in India's historic Test series victory in Australia (2018–19) and the home triumph over England. In India’s 2024 T20 World Cup win, Bumrah was named Player of the Tournament, finishing as the joint-second highest wicket-taker with 15 scalps. His tournament figures stood out with an outstanding average of 8.26 and an economy rate of just 4.17. A consistent performer, he also became the fastest Indian pacer to reach 150 Test wickets, achieving the milestone in just 34 matches during the Visakhapatnam Test. continued to scale new heights as he became the first Indian pacer to top the ICC Men’s Test Bowling Rankings. Bumrah's journey from a talented youngster in Ahmedabad to a world-class fast bowler is a testament to his skill, hard work, and determination. As one of the leading pace bowlers in world cricket, Bumrah continues to be a key player for India in all formats of the game.
