About Akash

Effort, dedication, and hard work — Akash Deep embodies them all. A skiddy right-arm quick who can strike with both the new and old ball, he left Bihar for Bengal in pursuit of better cricketing opportunities. His rise was swift: a Bengal U23 call-up in 2019, followed by senior debuts across formats the same year. In only his second first-class game, he grabbed a 6-fer and finished the Ranji season with 35 wickets, driving Bengal to the final.

His breakthrough came when he earned his India Test cap against England in Ranchi. Akash shone on the 2025 England tour, claiming 13 wickets, including a match-winning 6/99 at Edgbaston in the 2nd Test that powered India to a historic victory. He also completed his maiden 10-fer in an innings in the same match having secured brilliant figures of 4/88 in the first innings. He also notched a career-best 66 as a nightwatchman in the 5th Test at the Oval which proved to be extremely vital as India went on to win the match and draw the series. Akash Deep’s story is one of resilience, self-belief, and the hunger to keep getting better.
