While Bengal needed 72 runs and Saurashtra were in need of four wickets as the battle for the first-innings lead to decide the winner resumed on Day 5.
Saurashtra required an early wicket and their skipper Jaydev Unadkat put his hand up to give his side a wicket as he trapped Anustup Majumdar before the wickets.
Unadkat was at it again as his presence of mind to throw the ball at the striker’s end caught Akash Deep unawares and gave Saurashtra their eighth wicket.
Saurashtra picked up the ninth Bengal wicket, courtesy a fine diving catch from Vishvarajsinh Jadeja and DRS. Saurashtra opted for a review and the replays indicated that the ball had hit Mukesh Kumar’s bat after hitting the pad.
Unadkat then picked up his second wicket of the match and 67th wicket of the Ranji Trophy season as he got Ishan Porel out LBW.
Celebrations began in the Saurashtra camp soon after as they secured the first-innings lead of 44 runs.
Saurashtra came out to bat and moved to 38, losing the wicket of Harvik Desai before lunch.
