Shafali Verma becomes top-ranked batter in ICC Women’s T20I Player Rankings

India’s Shafali Verma became the top-ranked batter in the latest ICC Women’s T20I Player Rankings released on Wednesday, March 4, 2020.

Verma, 16, became only the second Indian after Mithali Raj to top the T20I batting rankings.

The right-handed batter thus far has 161 runs against her name from the four matches in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup.

She started the tournament with a breezy 29 runs against Australia and followed it with the scores of 39, 46 and 47 against Bangladesh, New Zealand and Sri Lanka respectively.

In addition to Shafali, Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues are the other two Indian batters who feature in top 10.  

Three Indian bowlers are in the top 10, with Deepti Sharma, Radha Yadav and Poonam Yadav occupying the fifth, seventh and eighth spots respectively.
