Dane Cleaver’s unbeaten hundred and fifties from Mark Chapman and Will Young on Friday helped New Zealand ‘A’ consolidate their position in the first multi-day game at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch
New Zealand ‘A’, who resumed the day’s play on the overnight score of 105/2, added 280 runs more to end the second day at 385/5.
The pair of Young and Ajaz Patel added 68 runs for the third wicket before New Zealand ‘A’ lost three wickets in the space of five overs to go from 171/2 to 176/5, losing Young, Glenn Phillips and Patel.
Cleaver and Chapman then joined forces and stitched a 209-run partnership. While Cleaver scored 111* off 194 deliveries, Chapman scored an unbeaten 85 from 187 balls.
For India ‘A’, Sandeep Warrier got two wickets.
