New Zealand ‘A’ make solid start in four-day match against India ‘A’

New Zealand ‘A’ made a solid start in the first four-day match against India ‘A’ at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch on Thursday.

After electing to bowl, New Zealand ‘A’ restricted India ‘A’ to 216.

India ‘A’ lost three quick wickets, losing Abhimanyu Easwaran, Mayank Agarwal and Priyank Panchal with 34 runs on the board.

Shubman Gill and Hanuma Vihari steadied the ship as the two added 119 runs together. While Gill scored 83 in as many balls, Hanuma Vihari scored 51.

However, New Zealand ‘A’ derailed the India ‘A’ progress as Michael Rae and Cole McConchie scalped four and three wickets respectively.

New Zealand ‘A’, in response, made a strong start and ended the first day at 105/2. While Rachin Ravindra scored 47, Ishan Porel and Mohammed Siraj picked a wicket each.
