Australia ‘A’ Women beat India ‘A’ Women to win T20 series

Australia ‘A’ Women beat India ‘A’ Women by 22 runs in the third and final T20 of the series at the Bill Pippen Oval in Gold Coast on Monday to complete a 3-0 series sweep.

Batting first, Australia ‘A’ were in a spot of bother as Mansi Joshi struck twice to reduce the hosts at 15/2. However, Elyse Villani and Heather Graham did not let India ‘A’ any immediate success, forging a 101-run partnership.

While Elyse Villani scored 70 off 56 balls, hitting 8 fours and 2 sixes, Heather Graham scored an unbeaten 51 off 48 balls with the help of 5 fours to guide Australia ‘A’ to 151/3.

India ‘A’ lost three wickets early in the chase as Priya Punia, Shafali Verma and Sushma Verma got out for 6, 0 and 5 respectively. Veda Krishnamurthy and Nuzhat Parween then added 45 runs together before the former was out for 35 in the 12th over.

While Nuzhat Parween and Dayalan Hemalatha remained unbeaten on 44 and 24 respectively, India ‘A’ lost the match after being restricted to 129/5.
