Indian skipper Virat Kohli bridged the gap with top-ranked Steve Smith in the latest ICC Test Rankings for batsmen. Following his hundred in the second Test against Bangladesh in Kolkata, Kohli has moved to 928 points, gaining 22 points.
Opener Mayank Agarwal, who had scored a double hundred in the Test series opener against Bangladesh in Indore, attains the No. 10th spot for the first time.
Cheteshwar Pujara, placed fourth, meanwhile, retained his position in the rankings.
Coming to the bowlers’ rankings, Ishant Sharma, who scalped nine wickets in the second Test against Bangladesh, and Umesh Yadav, who picked up eight wickets in the same Test, are at career-high points tallies after India’s innings-win at the Eden Gardens.
While Ishant, with 716 points against his name is in 17th place, Umesh is placed on the 21st position in the rankings for bowlers.
India are currently at the top of the ICC World Test Championship points table with 360 points against their name.
