BCCI condoles the death of Biswanath Dutt

The BCCI condoles the death of former president Biswanath Dutt who passed away on Monday morning following prolonged illness.

Dutt, 93, was elected as the president for a one-year term from 1988-89 to 1989-90. An efficient administrator committed to help cricketers and build the profile of the game; Dutt also served as the secretary and chief of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB).

Before being appointed the BCCI president, Dutt also served as the Board’s vice-president from 1980-81 to 1987-88 (barring the 1981-82 season). He is credited for Jagmohan Dalmiya’s foray into cricket administration. During his tenure as CAB secretary, Dutt appointed Dalmiya as treasurer of the association and it was there that his journey as one of the best administrators took shape.

Bcci conducts Umpires level - 2 practical examinations

The Umpires Level -2 practical examination was conducted on 18th and 19th September 2018 at Nagpur. A total of 39 successful candidates from the theory examinations conducted earlier appeared in the examination.

On 18th September, all the candidates went through the Viva questions and 10 Videos covering various aspects of umpiring.

In order to maintain a high level of transparency, as far as the conduct of the examination is concerned, the questions and the videos for the examination were selected from the pool of 12 questions and 20 videos in presence of all the candidates by a draw of lots picked by the candidates themselves.

On 19th September, a cricket match was conducted and all the candidates were provided with an opportunity to officiate for four overs, two each from either end.

All the candidates who score 90 marks or more would be inducted into BCCI Panel of umpires.

A two-day induction program will be conducted for the successful candidates before they appointed to officiate in matches.

Mr Shavir Tarapore and Mr S Ravi were the examiners.
