Report: Ind A vs WI A, 3rd 4day game, Day 3
After a magnificent triple-ton by skipper Cheteshwar Pujara put India A in an advantageous position in the last four-day game against West Indies A, the visitors were trailing by 108 runs with seven wickets in hand at stumps on Day 3. At stumps, WI A were 116 for three with Narsingh Deonarine on 44 with Assad Fudadin on 36.
Resuming on his overnight score of 139, Pujara took the team to 564 in the first innings, scoring 306 at the KSCA Hubli Cricket Ground. During his 415-ball knock, Pujara held the innings together as he lost partners at regular intervals after the departure of Gautam Gambhir. After Abhishek Nayar was run out earlier in the day, Ashley Nurse and Co. ran through India A lower-order. Nurse claimed three while Deonarine and Nikita Miller claimed one each to take their tally to two apiece. Zaheer Khan and Bhargav Bhatt were sent back off consecutive deliveries by Nurse. With the score on 564 for nine India A declared their first innings with the captain unbeaten after his marathon innings.
The India A pacers then struck early in the WI A second innings to leave them struggling on 57 for three. Khan dealt the first blow by sending back Kieran Powell while Dhawal Kulkarni and Ishwar Pandey followed-up with a wicket each. But Deonarine and Fudadin stemmed the fall of wickets and their stand was worth 59-run when play ended on the third day.
