Report: Ind A vs NZ A, Day 3
The three-day game between India A and New Zealand A ended in a draw at the Port Trust Diamond Jubilee Stadium in Visakhapatnam on Friday after the first day was lost to rain.
The Kiwis survived Jalaj Saxena’s early attack and went on to post 310 on the second day and the home team replied with 388 for seven before the play ended.
Resuming their innings on six for one on Day 3, India A lost Sarabjit Singh to Todd Astle early. Vijay Zol (110) continued his sublime form and notched up a century on his first-class debut. While he anchored the Indian innings and was involved in valuable partnerships with Jiwanjot Singh (48), Manprit Juneja (43) and captain Abhishek Nayar (102*), Zol maintained the positive intent throughout his innings of 153 balls, scoring 19 boundaries. His vigil was ended by Carl Cachopa.
After the fifth wicket partnership between Zol and Nayar was halted for 60, the India A captain continued to bat through the remainder of the day’s play reaching his century before the stumps were drawn for the final time in the match.
Nayar was unbeaten on 102 with Dhawal Kulkarni on seven when play ended.
Both teams will now play a four-day match from September 2 to 5.
