Inter State Twenty20 League, round-up, Mar 20
With comprehensive victories on the fourth day of the ongoing domestic twenty20 league matches Delhi and Bengal top the points table for North and East zone respectively. Bowlers played a key role in all the three victories on March 20. Here is the round-up for the day:
North Zone
Delhi vs J&K: Delhi beat J&K by 17 runs to claim four points from the win. Defending 133 runs the Delhi bowlers ran through the J&K line-up to restrict them to 116 for nine in 20 overs. Opening the bowling, Parvinder Awana and Vikash Tokas created early dents in the J&K batting line-up to push the opposition on the backfoot. J&K were unable to recover from the jolts as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Awana and Tokas claimed two wickets each while Rajat Bhatia claimed three.
East Zone
Bengal vs Tripura: After their bowlers restricted Tripura to a paltry 104, Bengal chased down the target comfortably to post an eight-wicket win in Agartala. Opener Subhomoy Das took Bengal across the line with 37 not out while his opening partner Sreevats Goswami made 27 and Sayan Mondal contributed 29 runs to the victory.
Jharkhand vs Odisha: Odisha clinched a 24-run win over Jharkhand after setting the opposition a 154-run target at the Tripura Institute of Technology Ground. Earlier, opting to bat first, Odisha lost their first wicket with six runs on the board. But useful middle-order contributions including those from Govind Podder (41) and Biplab Samantray (34) propelled Odisha to 153 for six while Rahul Shukla who dismissed opener Paresh Patel claimed three more to finish with a four-for. The Odisha bowlers then struck at regular intervals and restricted Jharkhand to 129 for seven to claim four points for their team.
