Karthik cracks ton, Jatin Saxena claims fiver
Mumbai, Feb 20: Dinesh Karthik slammed a century against Hyderabad, while Jatin Saxena put up an impressive all-round performance for MP against Vidarbha in the ongoing Inter State One-day League 2012-13. Here is the round-up for the day:
South Zone
Hyderabad vs Tamil Nadu in Goa: Tamil Nadu registered a 26-run win against Hyderabad in Goa.
Skipper Dinesh Karthik powered TN to 262 with a 119-run knock, while Baba Aparajith contributed 51 runs to help set a competitive target for Hyderabad. Ashish Reddy claimed four of the nine TN wickets that fell in the innings. TN bowlers, P Amarnath and Sunil Sam claimed three and two wickets respectively to bowl Hyderabad out for 236 with 10 balls to spare.
Kerala vs Goa in Goa: Chasing 220 runs, Kerala beat Goa by six wickets.
Electing to bat first, Goa were restricted to 219 by the Kerala bowling attack led by P Parameswaran who claimed three wickets. Goa skipper Sagun Kamat made 71, while the lower-middle order rallied to help post a decent target for the opposition. Rohan Prem then propelled Kerala across the line with an unbeaten 82, while Sanju Viswanadh ably supported him with a half-century.
Andhra vs Karnataka in Goa: Chasing 229 runs, Karnataka scrapped to a one-wicket win with two balls to spare against Andhra.
A half-century by AG Pradeep and 39 runs each by B Sumanth and Amol Muzumdar helped Andhra reach 228 before being bowled out by Karnataka. Vinay Kumar picked a four-wicket haul, while Abhimanyu Mithun took three wickets and KP Appanna claimed two wickets to wrap up the Andhra innings in 48 overs. Although Lokesh Rahul (75) and Robin Uthappa (50) got Karnataka off to a good start, they lost quick wickets in the middle. However, Raju Bhatkal and Appanna took the team across the line to register a thrilling victory.
West Zone
Baroda vs Maharashtra in Pune: Baroda beat Maharashtra by four wickets at the Poona Club Ground. After bowling Maharashtra out for 177, Baroda chased down the target in 29.2 overs.
L I Meriwala took three wickets, while MM Patel and JB Chhaya picked two wickets each and BA Bhatt took one to bowl Mahrashtra out after opting to field first. And despite losing three early wickets, Baroda coasted to an easy victory, courtesy Yusuf Pathan’s 86 not-out and Ambati Rayudu’s 40-run knock.
Central Zone
MPCA vs Vidarbha in Indore: MPCA coasted to a convincing 68-run win against Vidarbha in Indore. Jatin Saxena performed a key role in MPCA’s victory. He scored 61 runs, while Naman Ojha made 83 to take MPCA to 263 after opting to bat first. Jatin Saxena then returned to claim a fiver and help bowl out Vidarbha for just 195.
Rajasthan vs Railways in Indore: Rajasthan posted a seven-wicket win over Railways at the Holkar Cricket Stadium. Rajasthan opener PR Yadav led the chase with 123 and was ably supported by the top-order batters in reaching the 232-run target in 43.5 overs.
Earlier, put in to bat the Railways top order helped their team post 231 runs on the board, before being bowled out. Raman Chahar and Madhur Khatri picked three wickets each, while Gajendra Singh and Manjeet Singh claimed a wicket apiece. Railways captain Mahesh Rawat top-scored for his team with 81.
